Tough Outing for the Axemen
The British Police got on the board within 5 minutes of kickoff and never looked back. The Axemen had some opportunities but errors and some ball handling mistakes gave the visitors more of the ball than could be contained. With Axemen players having to adjust to some new positions due to the lose of some regular season starters the defensive structure took some time to find shape and the British team took full advantage. At the end of the first half the Axemen had only managed to find the line once and the scoreline sat at 34 to 4.
The second half was a more even battle with the Axemen refusing to lay down and wanting to find some pride in the scoreline. Some of the tackling was as hard as had been seen at Hodges Stadium and the ball handling errors started to disappear. The Axemen managed to find the line twice in the second half to snag a total of 14 points but in the end the lack of fitness due to the 2.5 months since their regular season ended was a telling factor and the final score was 62 to 14.
