Axemen still unbeaten

New Haven provided great conditions for the game and the Warriors team provided plenty of resistance for the Axemen. The game started with the expected collisions and some very heavy impact in most tackles. The teams traded their sets for the first 10 minutes before the Warriors found a hole in the Axemen armor and cross the try line to go up 6 to nil. The onslaught continued as soon as play resumed from the kick off and the Warrior again found some room and a clever play got them into the try zone again to lead 12 to nil after 15 minutes.

The Axemen seemed to get jolted into action realizing that for the first time this season they where behind at a a break and started the scoreboard going in their direction. The crushing blows and passionate running continued with both teams wanting to dominate the other physically but the Axemen started to find their footing and at the halftime break had the lead by 20 to 12 at the midway break.

The third quarter was more of the same heavy defense with both teams only able to find the try line once each to bring the scores to 26 to 18 but the injuries where taking a toll on the Axemen with Matty Clark, Jay Defau, Nick Shea, Randy Dewey and Kenny Britt all needing time on the bench the stop the bell ringing after some punishing Warriors defense. big Prop forward John Turlington also had to have a rest to control bleeding from his lip that required 9 stitches after the game to stop the bleeding after a nasty head clash.

The last 20 minutes however was all Axemen and fitness started to be the difference as the visitors found holes in the defense by using their speed to cross the line to get the score out to 46 points while all the Axemen player dug deep and muscled up in defense and only allowed one try for the home team.

The final score was 46 to 24 that now sees the Axemen face their third unbeaten team in a many games when the Philly Fight arrives on July 11 after they disposed of the DC Slayer by a margin of 72 to 16.

Trys for the Axemen
