Axemen keep their home win streak alive

The game opened with both having solid defensive lines and it took almost 15 minutes for the Axemen to find a gap and get the scoreboard moving with a try out wide for the 4 point lead. During the next 25 minutes the Axemen managed to find the try line 3 more times to take a 18 to Nil lead into the break, but it come at a cost. The heavy defense saw Bob Knoepfel and Tim Herff both needed time on the sidelines to stop bleeding from head wounds. The Rhode Island team also had their share of issues with one player needing assistance leaving the field after the hit of the game from Axemen Prop Matt Clark.

The second half was more of the big hits and aggressive defense from both teams and the Axemen again took some time to find another gap to increase their lead. And just as in the first 40 minutes, injuries started to mount on both sides as players needed bench time to get treatment.

The Rebellion kept the pressure on the Axemen line and found a hole wide on the Axemen line to punch in for a try late in the game but the clock ended any chance of a comeback with the final score being 30 to 4 to the Axemen.

In the reserve grade game the Orlando Adrenaline were too good for the Jacksonville Hatchets as they took their first win of the season and handing the Hatchets their third lose. The Adrenaline will host the Daytona Gearheads this week who have already booked their berth in the Championship game for the Firehouse Subs Southeastern Rugby League competition.
