Round 7 Preview: Axemen vs Rebellion
The Firehouse Subs Jacksonville Axemen will travel to Providence this Saturday to take on the Rhode Island Rebellion in Round 7 of the USARL competition. A win this week will secure the Axemen a home playoff game on August 10, so a victory over the 3rd ranked Rebellion in crucial. Rhode Island has been a team to watch this season with two big wins over the DC Slayers and the Boston 13’s and the Axemen are looking forward to playing them on the road. “After a few weeks at home we need to switch back into travel mode and prepare well,” says Brent Shorten, Captain and Coach of the Jacksonville Axemen . “It’s a long day on the road and we expect a tough game to go with that. If we play like we did last week we will be hard to beat. I feel like we really hit our best against DC and we showed it by running up 40 points in less than 60 minutes. Our defense was even better and I think that is what will lead our charge into the playoffs.” Daniel Morcom and Josh Moore are two new reserve grade players who have been called up to the Axemen squad this weekend, and all players are looking to make an impression to be picked for the final 19 playoff roster. The game will kick off at 7:30pm and as always fans can follow the game coverage of score updates on twitter @jaxaxemen.
