Jacksonville Axemen Rugby League

Axemen Begin Season with Clash of the Codes Domination:

The rugby league season kicked off last weekend when the Firehouse Subs Jacksonville Axemen battled the Florida Rugby Union Select team in the annual Clash of the Codes. The game began with a half of rugby union, where the Axemen fought hard and scored the first try of the game. The team’s defense held the Florida Union team to only 3 points during the Union portion of the game and the score was 5-3 at the half. With the next half being played as rugby league, the Axemen showed no mercy by scoring try after try to a strong 40-3 victory. Joshua Cock, Jacksonville’s newest import player from Australia was impressed with the team’s performance. “I wasn’t sure what to expect from the boys but there was a lot of positive talk amongst them and it reassured me that they meant business. It’s great to see the depth the team has this year and everyone has been putting in the hard yards at training. I’m really looking forward to working with the Axemen towards winning back to back championships.” With two tries scored from Josh last weekend, he is off to a good start. Come see Josh and the Jacksonville Axemen during the first regular season home game June 1st against Baltimore.
